About the ICAT Course
This course, presented by the Asphalt Pavement Association of Indiana (APAI), in partnership with INDOT, is designed to give participants a working knowledge of the principles associated with testing and controlling asphalt mixtures and aggregate properties. Those who attend this course will have the "know-how" to meet specification requirements for testing and controlling asphalt mixture properties during production at a Certified Hot Mix Asphalt Producer facility.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND
The course is designed for personnel who are required to be certified for QC/QA asphalt production testing. The participants will include asphalt producer contractors, aggregate suppliers, testing laboratories, engineering consultants and state and local agencies.
Attending this class and passing the xam will result in successful certification. Certified technicians will need to demonstrate proficiency testing for their district in accordance with ITM 583. Upon request, PDH's will be provided.
PROGRAM CONTENT
The course is designed to provide personnel with technical and practical knowledge through classroom instruction and “hands-on” laboratory experience. Topics include asphalt and aggregate sampling and laboratory testing, INDOT specifications, mix design basics, INDOT’s acceptance procedures and pay factor calculations, plants, field testing, INDOT audits, equipment calibration, and quality control troubleshooting.
REGISTRATION
The cost of the class is $700 for APAI member firms and all governmental agency personnel, including INDOT employees. Non-member firms will be charged $800 per attendee. The course fee covers the student manual and scientific calculator. The manual will be available for pick-up at the APAI Winter Conference and Trade Show on December 12th at the Indianapolis Marriott East.
Registration is limited to the first 60 attendees due to laboratory space limitations. There is no cancellation fee on or before January 10th. After that, a $250 cancellation fee may apply.
HOTEL AND MEALS
A block of guest rooms is being held under the name “ICAT” at the Residence Inn by Marriott Indianapolis Northwest located at 6220 Digital Way, Indianapolis 46278 for the nights of Monday, January 20th through Friday, January 24th. Reservations can be made by phone at (317) 275-6000 or CLICKING HERE. The group rate is $119 plus tax. Unsold rooms will be released on January 9th, and, after that date, rooms may not be available. The hotel is less than ½ mile from The Center.
Coffee and pastries will be provided for breakfast each morning, and lunch is included Tuesday-Thursday.
